Dynamic Surroundings es un mod que añade nuevos sonidos y efectos visuales al juego con el objetivo de mejorar la inmersión de los jugadores. Además éstos efectos visuales y sonoros convertirán el juego en una experiencia más atractiva, agradable y en cierto punto, más realista. Todo ello sin modificar la mecánica del juego, que seguirá siendo la misma de siempre.
En el apartado visual, éste mod añade auroras boreales a los cielos nocturnos, también varios niveles de intensidad de lluvia y de nieve, así como grandes tormentas de agua, de nieve y de arena, e incluso emanaciones de lava en el Nether y olas en el agua.
Mientras que en el apartado sonoro nos encontraremos con nuevos sonidos dependiendo del bioma en el que nos encontremos, escuchando grillos en los pantanos y pájaros en los bosques, el romper de las olas en las orillas del mar, etc. También los sonidos nocturnos serán distintos a los diurnos. Podremos escuchar nuestros pasos al caminar y al saltar, que variarán según nuestra armadura que tengamos.
