IronChests es un mod que nos permite crear nuevos tipos de cofres donde almacenar nuestros objetos. Estos cofres tienen como objetivo mejorar diversos aspectos de uno de los bloques más usados del juego, así, los nuevos cofres, nos ofrecen un nuevo diseño, mayor capacidad y mayores funcionalidades que los cofres predefinidos de Minecraft.
De mejor a peor, podremos crear estos seis tipos de cofres, cristal, diamante, oro, plata, cobre y hierro. La diferencia entre todos ellos reside en la capacidad de almacenamiento disponible, excepto en el caso del cofre de cristal y el de diamante, donde la diferencia es puramente visual. El cofre de cristal es "transparente" y muestra el contenido de su interior.
