Just Enough Items nos permite conocer las recetas de cualquier bloque u objeto del juego, así como aquellos objeto que sean añadidos al juego por parte un mod. Para ello simplemente deberemos colocar el puntero del ratón sobre el objeto en cuestión y pulsar la tecla "R". Por otro lado, podemos ver las funcionalidades de ese bloque u objeto, pulsando la tecla "U".
Además de esto, JEI Mod añade una barra lateral que nos muestra todos los bloques y objetos del juego, más aquellos que sean añadidos por los mods. En pantalla, también tenemos un buscador interno de bloques y objetos, más un botón con configuración con las opciones de JEI Mod, que entre otras opciones nos permitirá coger cualquier bloque de la barra lateral, en modo supervivencia, como si estuviéramos en modo creativo.
