NetherEx es un mod que se encarga de modificar de forma importante la dimensión del Nether para hacerla mucho más atractiva para los jugadores. El objetivo de este mod es fomentar la exploración de esta dimensión y la expansión de sus posibilidades, ofreciendo nuevo contenido y aventuras a los jugadores.
El mod añade hasta cuatro nuevos biomas a la dimensión del Nether, donde también podremos encontrarnos con hasta diez nuevas criaturas, un jefe, treinta y cuatro nuevos bloques decorativos y más de una docena de nuevos objetos con funcionalidades diversas. También encontraremos nuevos elementos comestibles, tres nuevas variantes de armadura, armas, pociones y hasta seis nuevas estructuras, entre ellas aldeas y pequeñas mazmorras, que se generarán alrededor de esta dimensión.
