Industrial Craft 2 nos ofrece la posibilidad de industrializar nuestros mundos de Minecraft, automatizando procesos diversos, pero sobretodo está centrado en la automatización de procesos de minería y tratamiento de recursos minerales. Con este mod podremos crear complejos sistemas industriales, que una vez creados, podrán ser totalmente automáticos.
Para llevar a cabo está industrialización, el mod añade diversas clases de máquinas que se encargarán de realizar ciertos procesos. Éstas máquinas podrán ser conectadas entre si o a una fuente de alimentación, utilizando cableado. De modo que también podremos crear sistemas de distribución de energía para dichas máquinas. Además, ésta energía puede ser almacenada en baterías, lo que nos permitirá acumular energía para consumirla cuando realmente la necesitemos.
